Accessibility

Best Day Ever Kids is made for every kid, and our website should work for every parent, grandparent and gift-giver too. We want everyone to be able to browse, shop and get help on bestdayeverkids.com, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification or other assistive technology.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. These are the widely used standards for making websites easier to use for people with disabilities.

What we do

  • Every product photo has a short text description for screen readers.
  • Pages, menus, filters and the cart work with a keyboard alone, with a visible outline that shows where you are.
  • Text is set in color combinations with strong contrast.
  • Moving content, like our scrolling banner, has a pause button, and the site follows your device's "reduce motion" setting.
  • Forms, buttons and menus are labeled so screen readers can announce them.
  • Pages are built to work at phone, tablet and desktop sizes, and when you zoom in.
  • We don't use accessibility "overlay" widgets. When we find a problem, we fix it in the site itself.

What we're still working on

  • Some parts of the site come from other companies, such as product reviews and our Instagram feed, our returns portal and Shopify's checkout. We choose partners with accessibility in mind, but we don't control their code. If one of them gives you trouble, tell us and we'll help you another way.
  • A few older product videos don't have text descriptions yet.

We review the site regularly and keep improving it.
